Read-a-Thon Update #5

1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Went to see Gail Bowen at the public library (will post on her this week) … listened to 40 minutes of the Jay Leno audiobook on the way there and 40 minutes on the way back. Still have 1/2 of it to go, but it might be good for later on – it’s pretty funny!

Also listened to Gail do about 30 or so minutes of readings … I think that counts!

4:30 p.m.

Back reading Clockwork Angel now … I’m pretty tired, but cracked open a Diet Pepsi. The husband is handling dinner and Cooper, my English Springer, is here to keep me company by sniffing out all of my books for anything bad.

Just found out that I won a PRIZE at Hour 8! Hoorah!!

Hodge Podge Proposals Mini Challenge

2. My car is a Mitsubishi
3. A fascinating job (to me) would be wine taste tester

Tessa Mitsubishi, who had a mediocre job at a liquor store is suddenly promoted to the prestigious WINE TASTER job after the previous worker, Will,  falls deathly ill and passes away. Tessa takes the job not knowing the risks – was it the wine that killed Will? Or was it the perils of working in the business? Surely there isn’t someone out there trying to MURDER the taste tester … or is there?

Read-a-Thon Update #4

9:25 a.m.

Dogs have been fed, I’ve stretched, splashed even more water on my face … now it’s time to get back reading!

9:31 a.m.

Decided on Clockwork Angel, by Cassandra Clare! My love for The Mortal Instruments series is great, so I’m hoping this books sucks me in …

Still fighting off sleep and it looks like my cheerleaders are crashing after their breakfast … darn dogs.

4 hours until I have to take a break to see GAIL BOWEN at the library. Not sure if I’m going to extend my reading time to make up for lost time or not … I just don’t have the stamina I used to!

11:00 a.m.

Really? It’s been 8 hours already? Wow! Time sure flies! 1/3 of the way in and I’ve read 554 pages … I’m not sure if that’s good progress or not. I’m not the fastest reader, that’s for sure! Really enjoying the Cassandra Clare book. I hope I can get a big chunk of it finished by the time I have to leave at 1:30 … at this rate, I’m thinking I should maybe get to the 200 page mark or so?

Tiredness is dissipating. Might take a break to wash up again and throw the dogs outside. Their consistent staring at me is distracting.

I’m only 126 pages into Clockwork Angel … I absolutely love it, but I’m going to switch gears and put on an audiobook (Jay Leno, Leading With My Chin) while I get ready to go … it’s 2.5 hours long, so it should take up my get ready and travel time and there shouldn’t be much left by the time I get home! Read-a-Thon Update #3

7:38 a.m.

Slow-down in reading. Husband woke up, had to get ready for a class. He was yammering on. The dogs were jumping all over the bed. Hard to concentrate.

Husband just left … back to reading The Trolls.

Might have to check – I think I’ve picked 3 Canadian authors for my first 3 reads. How strangely coincidental.

8:20 a.m.

The daylight is here! I’ve almost been up for 5.5 hours and my eyes are getting tired. Hopefully having all the lights on keeps me from dozing off …

More than halfway through my 3rd book!

9:00 a.m.

On the nose! I finished my third book … it was a bizarre little book, not really my taste. I’m a quarter of the way through now! Can’t believe I’ve been reading since 3am!

My eyes want to go to sleep, so I think I’ll feed my little mongrels (i.e. the dogs) and try to wake up. Continue reading →
