“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming books whose releases are being eagerly awaited. Bloggers are encouraged to join in and post about the book they’re looking forward to reading.
Black City (Black City Chronicles, #1), by Elizabeth Richards is another one of those books that I heard through the blog-vine, immediately falling in love with the cover first. Clearly, I’m slightly addicted to covers. Here’s the synopsis (from Goodreads):
A dark and tender postapocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war
In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection, that causes Ash’s long dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong. When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths.
I think this book sounds amazing, and it’s not just because one of the main character’s names is ASH, a name I fell in love with while reading The Iron King. And it’s about falling in love!! I love a good romance and this might be one of those Romeo and Juliet type of romances that I’m looking for.
Black City will be released by G. P. Putnam’s Sons on November 13, 2012. You should read it!
What are you waiting for this week?

I know, right?
I was thinking, as I read the synopsis, about how Romeo and Julietish it sounds. Nothing wrong with a good forbidden romance once in awhile. Sounds like a great read, nice pick! And the cover looks pretty awesome as well!
The cover is definitely awesome — and you’re right, there’s nothing wrong with a good forbidden romance!

I know, right? Very cool.
Post-apocalyptic love… what’s NOT to love?! I especially like the cover art for this one. Also, random note: I may steal your description of the blogging world as the ‘blog-vine.’ It’s so awkward to call it the blogoverse or blogland. You are probably a genius. *grin* Nice pick!
