Top Ten Books on my Summer TBR List
It seems that when winter comes around, I’m always buying books. With winter being here, there’s not a lot to do, so I spend a lot of time looking at books online, or going to the local stores and looking at all the pretty covers (which usually ends with me BUYING the books with pretty covers). This means that I end up with a HUGE pile of books when summer rolls around! And we actually get a few nice days in the summer, which are perfect for reading. Or, we get days filled with thunderstorms. I love to open the window wide so I can read my book while listening to the storm.
Here are the books that are on my summer TBR list … keep in mind there are soooo many more books I could’ve added to this list! And keep scrolling through — if you’re an audiobook lover, you can see the top 10 books on my TBL list for the summer!
Why I’m excited about these books:
- I really don’t have to say anything about Insurgent or Daughter of Smoke and Bone — both have received awesome reviews and I can’t wait to read them! Same thing goes for The Goddess Legacy — I’m especially looking forward to a story from Henry’s POV!
- I love a good YA contemporary, which is why Meant to Be, My Life Next Door, The Lonely Hearts Club, and Five Flavors of Dumb are on my list.
- I fell in love with Every Day the instant I read the first line of the synopsis. The same thing with The Catastrophic History of You and Me. Both look like lovely books!
BONUS – Top 5 TEN Audiobooks on my Summer TBL List
Since June is Audiobook month, I couldn’t leave out the audiobooks that I’m really looking forward to listen to. These are a mix of books that I already have on my iPod and books that are available at my local library.
Why I’m excited about these books:
- Wil Wheaton is the narrator for Ready Player One, which makes me even more excited to listen to it!
- At Home is narrated by the author … and I’ve heard really good things about the book. In fact, I’ve heard amazing things about ALL of Bill Bryson’s books. I don’t read a lot of non-fiction, so I think this should be a good listen.
- I’m intrigued by Beauty Queens, not only because I’ve heard so many mixed reviews, but Libba Bray is the narrator! How cool is that?

I’ve actually been wanting to read beauty queens for quite awhile now. I hope you enjoy them all!
I’ve heard really good things about Beauty Queens! Hopefully you’ll get to read it soon.
Audiobooks – yay! The Ready Player One audiobook is one of my favorite of all time. Hope you love it too. And I’m listening to my third Sarah Dessen audiobook now. I wish they were all in that format. Also, the Daughter of Smoke and Bone audiobook will be free with Audiobook SYNC this summer so you might want to pick that up.
All of your book choices look great too- you have fabulous taste! Meant to Be is one I’m eager to read.
Happy summer reading and listening!
I can’t wait to listen to Ready Player One! And that’s great to hear about Daughter of Smoke and Bone … I still have to figure out how those audiobooks work from Sync. It’s great that they’re releasing some classic books over the summer.
Meant to Be looks great! I can’t wait to read it … I’m a sucker for those kinds of books.
I still have to get into audiobooks, but I will someday! Insurgent was good, and I’m hoping to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone this summer too, been on my Kobo for a bit. And I have to catch up with the Goddess series! Great lists
Audiobooks are awesome! You really should try one one day … I suggest Will Grayson, Will Grayson — it’s really good!
I’ll see if my library has it, thank you!
You’re welcome … if you listen to it, let me know what you think!
CATASTROPHIC HISTORY OF YOU AND ME – That book rocks so hard

I sooo agree about Meant to Be! I’m hoping I can fit it in soon.
I hope it’s fun! It’ll be my first Libba Bray, so I look forward to it.
I keep on seeing Ready Player One around lately! Must be a sign I need to pick it up. I also want to read Every Day by David Levithan, such a unique premise! This Lullaby is one of my fav books so I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Oh, awesome! I’ve heard great things about Sarah Dessen, so I look forward to it. And Every Day looks so good! Such great books coming out.
The audiobooks for Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is pretty good. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would!
That’s good to know! I’ll have to listen to it on audio then … I have it as an audiobook AND a physical book, so I was torn on what to do!
Man, any audiobook narrated by Wil Wheaton has got to be amazing! I can’t wait to see if you like it
Lots of good books on your list! I think you’ll really like Insurgent, it’s even better than Divergent!! (Well, that’s my opinion at least
)
I’m half-way through it now and it’s pretty good! Quite different from what I’m used to.
And I can’t wait for Insurgent! Once I get some review books done, that’ll be next on my list.
INSURGENT! MY LIFE NEXT DOOR! I am so excited for you to read these two books this summer. I’ve only recently finished them… and they have both become favorites!
I’m so happy! I’m behind on my schedule for reading Insurgent because of all of the renos and yardwork … hopefully by this weekend! And I still need to pick up a copy of My Life Next Door!
I cannot recommend enough for you to LISTEN to The Daughter of Smoke and Bone rather than read it. AhMAYzing!
Good to know!!
