READATHON: #OlympicReadathon – Goals and Progress

After seeing that Kelsey, over at Kelsey’s Cluttered Bookshelf, was signing up for Random House of Canada’s Olympic Readathon, I knew I just had to join in in the fun. I mean, it’s RANDOM HOUSE + THE OLYMPICS + READATHON, which is just made of WIN any way you look at it!

If you haven’t signed up for the readathon yet, you can do so HERE. The readathon runs from July 27th to August 12th — the duration of the Olympics. To see progress updates as I read (as well as updates from everyone else who’s participating), you can follow the Twitter hashtag #OlympicReadathon.

It’s going to a be a lot of fun!

FINAL SUMMARY:

While I did good — exceeding my goal of 3,500 pages — I think I could have done better. I spent quite a few days barely reading anything because I was so caught up doing blog stuff. One thing that really helped me out was listening to an audiobook, which broke up the monotony of continuous reading. Hopefully next time I’ll be able to focus on getting a few hundred pages in each day, rather than having days where I barely read anything.

I didn’t manage to chat on Twitter with participants as much as I wanted to, either! This made me sad, but I was so busy for the second week! I did have fun, though, so that’s what counts. Big thanks to Random House of Canada for hosting this!

  1. Good Luck!!!

I think I will join you on this :) I have high reading aspirations for the next few weeks (Although I’m addicted to the Olympics – so maybe I won’t do so well? LOL!)

  3. How did you like DEARLY, DEPARTED? I really enjoyed it, and I totally fell for sexy Bram and his old-fashioned manners. More boys need old-fashioned manners. Oh, and I finally succumbed to all the PUSHING THE LIMITS mentions these past few days and ordered a copy… *TBR pile-toppling read-a-thon fail* :D

    • I really liked it, though I wouldn’t say it totally made me fall in love with zombies. If you watch my mailbox post from yesterday I go on a few rants about zombies. :)

Yay for Pushing the Limits! I really enjoyed it. I hope you like it!

  4. Congrats on reading so much during the Olympic Read-a-Thon! That’s amazing! I never thought about listening to audio book to get out of a slump of continuous reading, great idea! I just wish they weren’t so expensive haha. PS …LOVE the new header :)
