Clock Rewinders (2)

From Amanda’s blog:
Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and I shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week.

Triple review day! My review for the awesome audiobook of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams; The Selection, by Kiera Cass — a book with a super pretty cover, and; The Raft, by S. A. Bodeen, a survival story that was just a little meh.

I talked about ALASKA over on Alexa’s blog for her Travel Tales feature, as well as recommended some Alaskan reads.

Another triple review day! Sweet Valley Saga, by Kate William — a favourite of mine and one of my book relics; North of Beautiful, by Justina Chen Headley — a surprise for me and a book I loved, and; my audiobook review of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith, one that I was quite disappointed with.

My challenge for the Bout of Books readathon, A Book For Every Season, went up! I also posted a discussion looking at the blogger I was in 2009 vs the blogger I was in 2011 vs the blogger I am now.

My review of Timeless Desire, by Gwyn Cready, a nice little time travel romance read, as well as another edition of Book Hoarders Selection with City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare — the fourth book in the Mortal Instruments series.

My review of Pushing the Limits, by Katie McGarry — an awesome novel and another one that surprised me as well as my review of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, by J. K. Rowling, which I was very disappointed with.

This week it was ALL about the books! Lots of reading for the Bout of Books readathon, which was so much fun. Of course, it fell during a week where my hubs wasn’t working (towards the end of it, at least), so while I started out strong, I ended with a slow fizzle. Wish I couldn’t devoted the ENTIRE week to reading!

On the weekend, hubs and I were hosting a BBQ (today, actually), so there were a few days spent doing laundry, vacuuming, steam cleaning carpets, changing sheets, dusting, and various other cleaning things. I wanted the house to be spotless! Thank goodness for audiobooks — I listened to one the whole time I was cleaning!

Other than that, I got my bangs cut. Is that considered news?

Awesome things happening around the blogosphere! Not a lot — I think a lot of people were too busy READING for the readathon!

*** my listing style for this section is totally stolen from the oh-so-organized Amanda, who got it from Tara. My hope is that some of their organization will rub off on me. Is it possible? Not likely.

Read-in-2012 (154) (<– YES! I passed my goal of 150 books!)

Currently-Reading (3)

Own-Must-Read (639)

I also got this pile of books from the Edmonton Book Blogger meetup last weekend. We all brought some books to trade and I snagged *just* a few. I’m pretty sure ALL OF THESE come from Brie over at Eat Books. I thought I’d just add a picture because I don’t want to list them all.

Wishlist (173)

copyright date of book you don’t want to know
– I’m sure this one is talking about Lisa Jackson’s book You Don’t Want to Know, but I thought the term just read funny.

what happens at the end of goddess interrupted; how did gabaldon’s voyager end (two separate terms)
– Read the books and find out!

how to tell if a dog doesn’t like you
— I think it should be obvious. Licks? He likes you! Bites? You might want to back off.

How was your week? Have you read anything good lately?

Wow. I feel like a slacker. My goal is 150 and I’m just over half way – I really need to get reading the next few months!!

How did you like Jenny Pox? I have had that on my Kindle for AGES and never gotten around to it… I keep debating.

Come see what’s new on My Shelves this week!

    • I liked it! It was definitely different, but it was a pretty good read. Made me want to read the next one!

Good luck with your goal!! YOU CAN DO IT!!

  2. I’m glad you poked and prodded me to get reading on Wednesday–I don’t think it would have happened otherwise!

Also, yay for reaching your goal! My goal is 150, too, but… I’m still behind in my challenge. I think I’m four books behind where I need to be in order to be on track to complete my goal. And I’m excited about that, because it was at 8 behind earlier.

    It’s the little things, right?

    Have fun today! :)

    • Thank you! I think I might try and slow down my reading … get caught up on other things. But now that I’ve said that, I’ll probably just keep reading ALL THE BOOKS, which other things pile up.

Four behind is nothing! I’m sure you’ll reach your goal. YOU CAN DO IT, AMANDA!!

  3. They don’t call me the #bookbully for nothing. ;) Seriously though, I am thrilled you loved Jenny. The series is so great and it just get’s more crazy. WIN!

I’ve been thinking about cutting bangs lately, but as fast as my hair grows, I feel it will be a big pain in the arse.

And um, I had NO idea about that Night Huntress novella. I must read it. I cannot wait for you to read Vlad’s book. He is BY FAR my favorite character in that series. So snarky hot!

    ENJOY your BBQ!

    • I can’t wait to continue on with the series! Yet another series added to the list …

Bangs are a MAJOR pain the butt. I’ve finally resorted to going and getting them trimmed every few weeks. Makes them so much more tolerable.

I feel like I’m never going to catch up in the Night Huntress series! I’m currently reading the 1.5 novella and it’s good! But I need more – MOAR! One day, I will reach Vlad’s story. :)

  4. The amount you read in a week is so impressive! Though the amount in your to-read pile is a little scary.

Yay for hitting your book goal! I also had 150 and I just passed 100 this week. I think I’ll make it. Good reads is currently telling me that I’m 10 books ahead (yes!!!). It’s such a wonderful motivator.

    • Ha ha … YES! It is totally scary! And the weird thing is that I actually own all of those books. I’m cutting way back on review books now, so I hope to get back into reading what I buy.

That’s awesome that you’ve passed 100! I love the Goodreads notifications … it’s nice to know I’m ahead in something. :)

  5. Wow — you had an incredibly busy week. And you reminded me that I need to update my Goodreads reading challenge thing. Not sure how many books I’ve read but I’m giving you a run for your money :)

  6. Omgosh! You better continue on with the Iron Fey!! <3 Grimalkin and

Also, holy moly you're kicking my butt with books… My goal is 125 (I might up it to 150 soon since I'm doing pretty good on it and it doesn't seem like much of a challenge anymore.. ) But you've already read over 150!?!?

    • I know, I know! I need to keep reading it! Once I’m caught up on my reads from this week (book tour on Thursday — still haven’t read the book!), I might give the 1.5 novella a read. The series books are just neverending!

  7. LOL, I guess I didn’t help with your TBR pile at all! ;) I actually have a copy of The Origin of Species (I had two before the book-swap) so when you feel like reading it, let’s read it at the same time! :)

Congrats on hitting – I mean surpassing! – your goal! Puts my progress to shame, ack!

    • You know what’s funny? I saw this one on the ‘Recommended’ shelf at the library today — it’s like it’s STALKING ME now! I will definitely know when I start reading it! It might be a hundred years from now, but I do intend on getting to it. :)
