From Amanda’s blog:
Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and I shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else we’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books we plan on reading in the coming week.

This week was VAMPIRE WEEK!

Stay tuned next week for PARANORMAL WEEK – the LAST week of my event! Keep the lights on!

While last week was full of AWESOME, this week was just kind of slower:

  • Watched Season 2 of Supernatural — still love it! Some of the episodes are super creepy and some are super cheesy, but I’m glad I’m watching it now. Maybe at this rate I’ll catch up by the time the new season starts!
  • I’ve started watching The Walking Dead. What a CREEPY show! Creepy and very gross. My husband doesn’t like it, but EVERYONE seems to be raving about it, so I wanted to give it a whirl. Season 1 rocked and I’m just starting Season 2. SO MANY THINGS!

(Note: I absolutely LOVE Fall TV. It’ll be interesting to see how I balance all my favourite shows, NEW shows, and my reading.)

  • I managed to get LOTS of reading in this week, which was awesome. This is good because hubs will be home quite a bit in the next week, so I’m guessing my reading will go down a bit.

Unbreaking the Shelves progress:

  • Well, I managed to read ONE review book from my list AND I started a new series. I also started ANOTHER series, but that wasn’t on the list. Still, it’s a book from my own-must-read pile, so it still counts.
  • On the other hand, I also BOUGHT 4 books this week AND won one, so I guess I’m at +2.
  • I read a LOT of library books, so I think I need to request less of those. BUT, some of them accomplish my series reading, so that’s a good thing.
  • I did manage to delete some of my freebies off of my Kobo, which is progress AND it helps keep my TBR number in the 370s. Will I ever escape the 370s?

Awesome things happening around the blogosphere!

  • Amanda at On a Book Bender has a SUPER IMPORTANT POST about how NOT to make friends on Twitter. Do you commit any of these crimes?
  • I moseyed over to Anne’s blog, Creativity’s Corner, and reviewed Angela Johnson’s The First Part Last.
  • Stephen King turned 65 this past week. I remember being super scared of a LOT of his movies. One in particular, Pet Semetary, I watched alone in the basement with the dog. FREAKED ME RIGHT OUT!

I’m SURE there was more that went down, but I’ve been in a bubble all week, it seems. Since I don’t have lots of links, I’ll give you guys this awesome video by Alex Day:

*** my listing style for this section is totally stolen from the oh-so-organized Amanda, who got it from Tara. My hope is that some of their organization will rub off on me. Is it possible? Not likely.

Read-in-2012 (180)

  • Who I Kissed, by Janet Gurtler (for review)
    • A book that made me think. I like those.
  • The Unquiet, by Jeanniene Garsee
    • THIS is the kind of creepy book I like! I couldn’t even read it at night. WIN!
  • I Hunt Killers (Jasper Dent, #1), by Barry Lyga (audiobook)
    • I wanted to like this one more. ONE SCENE almost had me turn it off. Gross.
  • A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1), by Libba Bray
    • Happy I’m FINALLY reading this series! And I got to throw tomatoes at Amanda!
  • Husk, by Corey Redekop (for review)
    • Not really my kind of zombie book, but it was fun. And very gory.

Currently-Reading (2)

  • Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1), by Becca Fitzpatrick
    • I’ve owned this series FOREVER! It’s about time I start reading it.
  • The Devil’s Metal (Devils, #1), by Karina Halle (for review)
    • I did NOT have time to read this before my stop on the blog tour, but Kelly’s review (at Reading the Paranormal) convinced me. So far, it’s awesome.

Own-Must-Read (377):

  • At Grave’s End (Night Huntress, #3), by Jeaniene Frost
    • I know I still have to read the second book in this series, but I feel better knowing I have book #3 on hand.
  • Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1), by Sarah J. Mass
    • EVERYONE is raving about this. That probably means I’ll hate it. WE WILL SEE!
  • Silence (Hush, Hush, #3), by Becca Fitzpatrick
    • I’m trying to buy the books for series I own — I constantly want to buy the second book in this series, so it’s about time I bought the correct one.
  • The Diviners (The Diviners, #1), by Libba Bray
    • It humours me that people who read this think it’s such a feat to finish. IT’S ONLY 600 PAGES! There are much longer books. Feel free to whine when you finish reading The Count of Monte Cristo, which is 1,200+ pages.
  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky
    • I didn’t intend to read this one, BUT Simon & Schuster Canada is sending me tickets to the advance screening of the movie, SO another Edmonton blogger and I decided to read the book beforehand.

Raks-Won-Gifts (54)

  • The Space Between Us, by Jessica Martinez
    • This looks pretty good! Won from Simon & Schuster Canada.

  1. The Walking Dead is such an awesome series! My fiance and I are hooked on it, and waiting for season 3 to air hehe!
I’m sure someday your book number will get under 370, it’s hard not to want ALL THE BOOKS even when you have so many already.
Let me know what you think of Hush, Hush I have it on my shelf but have yet to get to it!
Yay for the Edmonton Book Bloggers! I need to find out if there’s any book bloggers in my city…
    Have a good week!

    • I’m really loving TWD! I can’t wait to get through the second season!

As for Hush, Hush, I haven’t had a ton of reading time and have some review books to read, so it may go to the back burner for a week …

I hope you can find some bloggers in your city!! It’s great! :)

  2. I’ve watched some of Supernatural — it’s fun!
SO jealous about The Space Between Us. I loved Virtuosity and am dying to read it.
Great and Terrible Beauty — LOVE!!!!!
And yes, I’m one of the Diviner Whiners. Well, I didn’t whine, but I picked it up and was like, whoa! I don’t mind long books but I have a ton of Sept and Oct books to read and I wish some of them were a bit shorter .That’s all…

    • It’s so fun! My hubs and I joke about people who may watch a show here and there and how it could seem VERY hokey and goofy. Still, it’s a fun show!

Love that term … Diviner Whiners. :) I’ve read some books that were up to 1,000 pages and they’re killers! I actually have the Count of Monte Cristo Cristo on my shelve and it’s MASSIVE!

  3. NOOOOOOOOOO. How can you not like Jasper Dent? That book is so frakin awesome. Dang you and your weak tummy! *shakes fist at tummy* But you ARE watching The Walking Dead, which is wicked awesome but baffling since you don’t like gore. lol

600 pages is A LOT, especially for YA, and when you want to get as many books read as possible. Heh. I will be starting it soon since it’s the October pick for book club. I might just club whoever picked it with the actual book…it can definitely be used as a weapon!

I love your group book blogger pic! You all should start a book club. Then you can make or have someone else make cupcakes. ;)

    • I do like gore, but there was that ONE SCENE that really irked me.

I guess when you put it that way, that 600 pages is a lot for YA, you make a good point. Still, I’m excited to read it!

We’re thinking of starting a book club! We just have to find some books we can all agree on!

  4. I just started watching Supernatural with my boyfriend and am loving it so far. The Bloody Mary episode was so creepy! I’m about a 1/3 of the way through Season 1.

And I love the Walking Dead. My bf and I were talking about how someone should make a show like this and it’s honestly like an answered prayer. Season 2 is a bit slower, but still good!

    • The Blood Mary episode was SO creepy!!! I find the episodes that are more ghost-like, like that one, or the ones with ghostly hitchhikers or something are the creepiest. I can’t wait to finally catch up!

I’m just getting into Season 2 of The Walking Dead, but it’s still great. I already can’t wait for the third season!

  5. I am curious to see how other book bloggers balance reading with fall TV watching! It’s overwhelming at times, but I do love my TV shows :) It helps when you watch a lot of shows on DVD or downloads and don’t have to sit through or fast forward through commercials though!

Looking forward to Paranormal week! :)

    • I totally wonder the same thing! Hubs and I LOVE fall TV shows and look forward to them every September. These are the days I usually stay up later than I should because I still want to get my reading time in! I think the Fall is when I should make up a schedule so I can keep on top of everything.

BUT, hubs and I tape everything, which is great. We don’t have to rely on certain days and times to watch our shows. If we don’t have time until the weekend, we’ll wait!

      Yay for Paranormal week!

  6. Vicky @ Books, Biscuits, and Tea

Hahaha I LOVE that video! One of my friends sent me the link a while ago, it’s genius. And I still don’t understand how you guys have such cool search terms. Mine are always totally random, like… hang on… “come to the edge review” or ” twenties girl plot” :( *feels left out*

    • Trust me, Vicky, I have lame search terms, too — like, author and book names. I go through my 7 day summaries and try to find the best ones. Some of them are so random and silly!

  7. How do you have time to read AND watch TV?!?! I’m so entirely jealous! If I wasn’t so gosh darn lazy I’d be all over Supernatural! I’ve caught a few on TNT and it looks great! Fringe is another I wish I had time to watch and I think Walking Dead is forever being DVR’d … someday!!

It was vampire week!!! CRAP! I’m running and going through your posts – late but I’ve got to know what you think of Night Huntress!! And I think my copy of Hush, Hush might be as old as yours.

    Have a great week!!!

    • I don’t know how I manage to keep reading and watch my favourite TV shows, but it happens! It has to happen!

You know, I started Hush, Hush, but now it’s back on the back burner for a little bit — I have too many other things I need to get done!

  8. I’m jealous of your advanced screening of Perks, I so want to see that movie! (of course I still need to read it first! :) ) I hope you like Hush, Hush better than I did, it was ok for me, but yeah.. not a huge

I still have to read Throne of I’ll get to it :) Also, you’re right, The Diviners isn’t really that long, I felt like it was because I was reading it during a busy week and it took me the entire week, but that was just because I wasn’t getting much time to read. I do remember when I finally finished The Count of Monte Cristo, I felt so awesome!

I hope you have a wonderful week, I’m sad that your extravaganza is almost done though!

    • Oooh … I’m eager to read Hush, Hush now — I have 3 books in the series, so I hope I like it!

You’ve read The Count of Monte Cristo? That book is HUGE! One day I plan to read it … it’s supposed to be awesome!

  9. CassayC

Glad you are liking The Walking Dead. It took the BF half way through season 2. It gives me nightmares lol but I still watch it.

  10. I really want to see Perks as I loved the book when I read it several years ago.
Congrats on your unbreaking the shelves progress. That 50 shades video made me laugh so hard and I have no interest in the book whatsoever.

    • Yeah, I have no interest in the book, either! Ha ha … but the video is quite funny. :)

I look forward to reading The Perks of Being a Wildflower! It looks great!

  11. ayleeargh

Ooh, The Walking Dead! Wasn’t Season 1 AMAZING?! I have to say, Season 2 slows down considerably (probably due to having to stretch the budget to a full-episode season) and a lot of the characters really annoyed me, but it still definitely has its merits. I am very much looking forward to Season 3!

And I’m pretty sure it was me who googled edmonton book bloggers this week!

  12. Woooo! The Walking Dead!!! It’s SUCH an awesome show, even if sometimes I get frustrated when people do stupid things. That’s why if the zombie apocalypse ever comes, it’s just me and the honeyman – no large groups. Can’t wait till season 3!

Hope you have another awesome week :-)

    • See and I was the opposite! In the first episode where the one guy hooks up with the guy and his kid, I was like “WHY ARE YOU GOING YOUR SEPARATE WAYS??” But then, not everyone is going to get along … I’m loving this show!

  13. I love these posts of yours. I don’t comment enough, but I’m a stalker! I’m really curious to know what you think of the Hush Hush series. I loved the first one, but the others… left me disappointed.

    Also… I can’t believe you’ve read 180 books so far this year. !!!!!! Wow, I’m jealous. I wish I could read faster, I feel so slow :).

I can’t wait for season 3 of The Walking Dead! I’m reading the comics so I’m a little ahead story wise. They’re pretty gross, sometimes I have to go lalalalaalalaaaa through parts. Ha!

    Have a great week!
    Jen @ A Book and a Latte

    • You know, I started the Hush Hush book, but then I had other things come up, so it got put on the back burner. Hopefully I can get back to it soon!

I’ve been a slower reader lately … trying to get blog things done, house things done, AND I’ll be starting a casual job soon. Who knows what will happen!

There are COMICS for The Walking Dead?? I just finished the second season and it was great! What a crazy ending! Can’t wait for the next season!
