It’s Alexa of Alexa Loves Books and I am so excited to be back on Kristilyn’s blog and posting again, this time for witch/wizard week! I love witches and wizards much more than I love zombies, and so, I’m pretty excited about this week’s post. In lieu of posting a review of a witch book, I thought I’d share some fairly neat titles with witches/wizards that have gone from books/comics to film, TV and even Broadway!
BROADWAY
Wicked by Gregory Maguire has actually been adapted into a Broadway show (which I’ve now seen twice). I enjoyed reading the book, but I have to say – the show is pretty darn spectacular. I love that it gives a completely different take on the Wicked Witch of the West.
TV SHOWS
The Secret Circle series by L.J. Smith is was actually turned into a show, and I thought, based on the few episodes I did get to watch, that it was pretty awesome. Sadly, the show has since been cancelled.
The Vampire Diaries, also by L.J. Smith, is about to premiere season four (starting October 11, 8PM on the CW), and I am still as in love with it as when it started. There’s technically only very minimal witch involvement, as it’s obviously mostly about vampires, but I’d say it still counts, especially when Bonnie does her thing. Continue reading
